Анотація
Збільшення тривалості життя, насамперед завдячуючи успіхам профілактики і лікування хвороб, спричинили глобальну перебудову структури населення з драматичним зростанням людей старечого віку і довгожителів. Притаманний для літніх пацієнтів спектр вік-асоційованих видів патології, хворобонеспецифічних симптомів і синдромів, поліфармація, функціональна нездатність потребують принципово відмінного від «хворобоорієнтованого» підходу в сучасній медицині. В огляді розглядаються історія виникнення геріатричної кардіології і її демографічні чинники, завдання герокардіології на сучасному етапі розвитку клінічної медицини, низка специфічних геріатричних станів, зокрема мультиморбідність, поліфармація, геріатричні синдроми, обмеженість представлення геріатричних аспектів серцево-судинних захворювань у рекомендаціях Європейського товариства кардіологів. Наголошується, що органічне інкорпорування засад і методів всебічного геріатричного оцінювання в традиційний кардіологічний діагностично-лікувальний процес з використанням методів геріатричного скринінгу, геріатричної діагностики, створення індивідуальних лікувально-відновлювальних програм дасть змогу покращити якість життя, функціональний статус, убезпечити від травматичних подій і гострих станів літніх пацієнтів, зменшити навантаження на систему медико-соціального забезпечення.
